In some cases, you can not prevent kidney failure. However, there are some steps you can take that will lower your risk and decrease the progression of kidney disease.

• Minimize fast (junk) and preserved foods.

• Avoid long-term exposure to toxic substances, such as Lead Poisoning and solvents.

• Do not abuse Alcohol or over-the-counter pain medications.

• Limit the amount of drugs toxic to the kidney.

• Avoid smoking or tobacco in any form.

• Make a habit of regular physical excercises.

• Medical check-ups at regular intervals.

• Always use disposable and sterile syringes.

• If you have chronic kidney failure, talk to your doctor before you become pregnant.
